I hate the almost non-existent WiFi connectivity options.

Sorry Palm, after owning your products for many years I couldn't wait longer and purchased a WiFi-ready IPaq with all the bells and whistles. OK, so I've caved in to Microsoft but geez, I can't wait for Palm to update its products forever.

Palm does not seem to make an all-in-one solution. Why would I buy a Zire 71 when it's been replaced with the 72? Why would I buy a Tungsten C (it has WiFi) when it's missing mp3 playback capability out of the box? Why would I risk having minimal support for Zire 72 WiFi? (OK - SanDisk apparently offers an SD WiFi Card but there's no driver software for it on either the SanDisk or PalmOne sites.)

Above all, why wait for a company that is rapidly losing market share and seemingly half-bakes what it does develop these days?

Allan

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

Do you know if that patch or a whole different set of drivers are needed for the tapwave zodiac? As this rate the Palm will loose potential new customers and loose existing ones, like me, who has had a 3 palms, Palm III, M515 and now a T3. It looks like I may have to get myself a pocket pc to address the Wifi requirement, lacking in the T3. :-(

Tom Keating

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

I don't understand why Palm is doing this. I have a T3 and have been looking for a card ever since I bought it last year. If this their idea of good customer relations I will be purchasing a Pocket PC for my next hand held. I do tell anyone that asks what to buy to look at the Pocket pc's first, as their support seems to be far supeior!!!

John

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

Here is the WiFi card for the T3:

http://www.palmone.com/us/products/accessories/expansioncards/

Carey Chaffin

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

I noticed that PalmOne's card is the same price as the SanDisk card that INCLUDES 256mb of memory. Talk about cheap and underhanded. SanDisk's plain old Wi-Fi card can be had for just over $60. Why is PalmOne charging double?

Matthew Rucker

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

I too bought a T3 and have been waiting for a wifi solution for quite a while. This is the first Palm I own (have had 2 other Handspring’s). That will teach me to think that this company has it's customers in mind. Of course PalmOne won't release a patch; they want to force your hand. Spend more and get something less. Besides that, they know everyone will getting the Sandisk 256 + wifi card instead of there’s if they do. Lifes good when you’re the only one in the world who has what people want. COME ON PALMONE, why not at least put a little memory in the wifi card? Think about your customers and not so much about the almighty BUCK.

Mark Maske

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

damn....this means that my zire72 is completely useless........damn palm.......i guess il buy hp-ipaq next time

Jan

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

I despise microsoft for its big business tactics but I will be buying an ipaq. I don't think Palm will be around that long given their business practices. Palm desires to be just as ruthless as Microsoft (even in today's market) but they cannot deliver the uniqueness and breadth of products. (They will however easily match Microsoft's lack of customer support.) Not publishing the drivers is short-sighted stupidity!

Rob N.

Comments on Real SD WiFi card coming for Palm -- but there's a catch

I have a T3 as well and was excited to discover a wireless card available, but then I saw the Scan Disk that has 256MB built in for the same price. That's great because the built in memory is so limited, but because of Palm's greed, they won't release a patch. That really did not sit well with me.
