I'm not really impressed, because I've done this sort of things. Back in '88, when Zentech was first going public, I named a set of three technologies / producers I thought would make it. EDGE was nowhere to be found, though I'd hedged my bets as to the propinquity of the ubiquitous B45 / bItNET format (anyone remember that? taking you way back to the days of CPM!). But a lot, even among my associates and co-workers, felt that bItNET wasn't going to work, because of low threshold times. Fast forward thirteen years, and we've got an entirely dedicated server running at work. I'm talking an old RAID box next to one of those old Digital machines we managed to con out of Requisitions (which I'm sure we can all sympathize about). Thirteen separate data paths, and people from accounting one floor down are declaring it some sort of miracle. For me, Clankton, and a few other in the know, we linked it more to a hybrid SPARC server we ran from 1983-85 - and we sure as heck refused to put vital discpacs on it!

Biff Smitty

Comments on AT&T Wireless offers first EDGE smartphone, the Nokia 6620

I currently use ATT and the Nokia 6820 was told that this phone

http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,47814,00.html

was also EDGE compatible. I have been using this for over 3 months. So I guess I am a little confused by the comment "ATT offers first EDGE Smartphone". Isn't the 6820 the first?

[From Peter: The 6820 is NOT a smartphone, it is considered just a cellphone.]

Jason

Comments on AT&T Wireless offers first EDGE smartphone, the Nokia 6620

Hey Peter can you break down the key differences?

Cell vs. Smart?

Thanks

Jason

Comments on AT&T Wireless offers first EDGE smartphone, the Nokia 6620

i will like to know trhe cost of the nokia 6620 thanks,,,,,

raymond amtt

Comments on AT&T Wireless offers first EDGE smartphone, the Nokia 6620

I'm from Indonesia . Although a little bulkky, it is compensated with its enormous amount of features. the GPRS is fast and the sound is very good with using a stereo headset.

For me, the only problem i have with my 6620 machine is the fact that i have 2 take off my battery 2 get to the MMC. Apart from that, its just perfect for a student, mp3s, videos and others. The camera can't be compared to most sony ericsson phones like s700 or even k700i, all the same if u need a good camera buy a carmcorder.

Sylvester
