Any details on how many EDGE slots are capable? I am expecting only 2 down + 1 up, but hoping for 4+2 or at least 4+1. A single EDGE slot theoretically supports 59.2Kbps using MCS9 encoding with 8PSK modulation. The Nokia EDGE phones are 2+1, so AT&T avg downlink is 80-100Kbps. Of course the device could support 4+1/2 and the carrier could choose to save voice bandwidth and only support 2+1 on the network.

The current performance and power management and battery life of the 600 are just fine! Just fine, I say to you again. They fixed the wrong thing. The camera resolution was the real glaring problem with this phone, and they didn't fix that. A-'ing-mazing.

We have had the Nokia Comm, the New Nokia with the flip keypad (god I hate Nokias menu system, but the keyboard is cool), the Treo 600, the blackberry and now as of today the SonyEricsson P910i.

Of em all, I loved the Treo 600 the most. The downside, no bluetooth, crap camera, no wifi.

The CPU was fine, the memory didn't matter 'cos I slipped in a decent SD card. So, with the new phone what has changed? Why buy it really.

Bluetooth is nice, but I can do without to be honest, since it has a cool IMAP client (snappermail) I do not need to connect with my laptop.

I really do not see why you would buy the 650 instead of the 600.

The phone is straightforward and the speakerphone performs remarkably well. I've impressed people by tossing it on the table to hook people up during meetings when the expensive room model wasn't working well.

I love the web browser and use it frequently. I also really like the automatic switch over to phone mode by clicking on a number in a website.

It was easy to become really good at note taking in real time with the little keyboard. I wish I knew a way of loading larger size text documents into the system. Any ideas?

I love the MP3 player from Pocket Tunes which was free after filling out a survey on the Palm site. I live off the 3.5 hours of music on a 256 Meg chip at the gym with headphones and in the car with a Belkin FM transmitter. I can swap out the music easily with a card reader on my desktop machine where all my MP3s live.

I purchased the amazing Firepad software which makes the most of the screen resolution showing pictures from any source. I use it for personal snapshots of the family as well as showing business images. Oddly, the pictures it takes are better if you view them on a computer, or if you convert to firepad and reload them on the treo. Still, I agree that the camera is weak. I only use it when I don't have a choice.

I have accidentally become pretty good at Texas Hold 'Em with through thousands of hands against the AIs on the software I purchased from Concrete Software.

I fooled around with POP3/SMTP Email from the treo but decided I really didn't want to make it happen. SMS Email has worked out fine for quickie messages from the phone and I never get spam on it.

I was strangely thrilled by the ease of transferring the company phone directory into the PDA and how handy that's turned out to be while I'm out of the office.

Finally, the sync with outlook makes managing my meetings at work and personal appointments easy. This was actually my original need/excuse for looking for a handheld device. Suprisingly, it turns out that I actually satisfied it.

Even if bluetooth is the only single real upgrade in the treo 650, if the same rebates happen for the 650 through amazon and sprint that enabled my $150 purchase price for my 600, I would do it again in a flash and give my 600 to my wife (who doesn't really need it). I still don't see a better package for what I need.

Would I spend $650 for it? Of course not.
