I pack my iPod mini in a sock when I carry it in a bag with other items (burst of inspiration on my way out of town one day). So far I'm scratch & dent free.

So it's hard to believe Apple would actually market this, then gouge the hell out of a customer ($29 for a pack of SOCKS?) for something with the Apple logo.

After more than a year, using the pouch, my iPod is still nearly scratch free. I'd imagine these socks would have similar effectiveness as the pouch (maybe a little more, they look thicker so probably offer some protection from light impacts too).
