just guessing, but with all the press, it might just be too difficult (technically, bandwidth) and make Apple look bad (QuickTime having to buffer every ten seconds, etc...)

like I said, just a guess, since I don't really know much about streaming video, but I think it is more of a PR decision than anything to keep Apple in the best light. The keynote this year is the biggest EVER - it would be a colossal mistake for Apple to be demoing Quickitime technology and Quicktime not functioning for desktop users at home.

Take in to account that almost 12 million more people have iPods this year - meaning a good percentage of those have Quicktime - meaning there is a lot more potential for things to go wrong in a stream.

Apple's servers are already strained around expos any way.
