(you'll have to check on that.) So you need not have to convert many of your file types.<br><br>Also another bit of news, starting sometime from now to next month, archos will reintroduce their AV400 and gmini lines to be compliant with Microsoft's play4sure standard. It's the one reason I bought the 420 instead of the 480, and it's why I would never buy the 4100.....what's the point of all that content if you can only watch for a few hours at a time without plugging in? I recently took a trip to Italy with 6 or 7 2-hour movies, plus a bunch of 1 hour TV shows ripped from my TiVO (realtime, unfortunately). He said that the MS PlayForSure compatibility would come via firmware and that I should not hold off on purchasing. Yesterday, I spoke to another person in tech support who says he has spoken to the tech support manager. The manager has indicated that in fact the current AV 420 hardware will not work with PlayForSure and there is no firmware that will make it work. The new AV 420 will include new chips and the PlayForSure logo. He did not indicate when it would be available other than to say "soon". He also indicated that all current functions would remain. I've got one more day to return my unit. I really hate to because it has performed perfectly in all phases of operation. While recording, it will pause about every 15 seconds briefly but its noticable. I love my 4100 and have had it for over 6 months.  Just recently I downloaded several TV programs and am having sound problems.  I was having the same problems with the sound on the computer until I downloaded the AC3 filter.
