6GB iPod mini review roundup
At the end of the day there isn't much you need to know about the new
2nd generation iPod mini except that it comes in both 6GB
and 4GB versions, they've made the colors more fluorescent, and its battery life is way better than it was before (oh,
and now you have to pay extra for a Firewire cable), but we're throwing together this roundup of reviews anyway.

the list.)

Does the Zen Micro still have superior sound quality?
I give this thread about three posts before it turns into an iPod/non-iPod user flame-war.
Remember that old movie called "Real Genius" where the college kids unwittingly made a laser that the military put in a satellite and intended use to blast people from orbit? I always thought that it would be cool to have one of those programmed to blast cars that ride along in the left lane without going any faster than the people in the right lane. But now I have a better idea for it. Use it to blast anyone that uses the phrase "At the end of the day."
Val Kilmer,
You went a long way for that...thanks...that was awesome.
> "Does the Zen Micro still have superior sound quality?"
I don't think there was ever any sort of consensus that it did in the first place. The published s/n ratio on the Zen is better but Apple generally uses really good D/A converters. Besides, if you're playing a compressed file without EQ the main sound quality limitations are going to be from the headphones anyway.
"At the end of the day there isn’t much you need to know about the new 2nd generation iPod mini..."
Heck I didn't need to know much about it at the BEGINING of the day.
Spot-on 'Mr. Kilmer', "Very cosmopolitan"...
if they made the ipod photo smaller in size, well definitely needs to be thinner, im as sold as a hot chocolate croissant on a tray!
Did you guys read the review from playlist?
It claims that the battery life can hit more than 24 hours if the Ipod mini is left to play non-stop.
Sounds pretty incredible for an mp3 player that would usually hit only 8 hours for its precious generation.
Did Apple hire some Creative Zen battery engineers?
i dont see why one would buy the 6gb version when they can get an ipod with 20 or 30gb (i forget) for 50 dollars more
Andrew, it all comes down to aesthetics... sure the ipod looks sexy, but the mini ipod would appeal even more especially to female. Oh, the smaller form factor also helps.
Apple got screwed if they hired creative battery engineers.... I'm not gettin' 12 hours out of a zen micro battery, that's for sure.
Who wants good sound quality DAPs anyway? So we can hear just how bad lossy codecs can sound?
"Was it a dream where you were standing in sort of sun-god robes on top of a pyramid, and there were hundreds of naked women screaming and throwing little pickles at you?"
Love the effeminate new colors.
I've got both Ipod and Zen - zen definitely sounds better.. esp at high volume.
If you have only one and don't know better, then just stick with it because it sounds fine. But if you have a the opportunity to listen side-by-side, you'd probably prefer zen for the long term.
I've gotten over the cool ipod factor and mostly carry my orange zen now.

Zen is in no view better than an iPod.
If you ask me, they're both very good playaz.
I like them both, couldn't decide, so just went to tha store to buy one cuz I thought I'd just make my decision there, but then the decision was made for me cuz the zen playa waz gone. So I bought an iPod. Lata I bought a zen anywayz, just cuz I wanted to have one (yeah I won lotsa money once in Lotto^^ but want the mini version of playaz anywayz) I liked 'em both quite even... they're both cool.
Winona you'Re completely wrong in my view!
