Tiger may be further along in the labs than Apple is actually showing due to recent leaks and it's court battles over same. New desktop G5's can't be too much longer either to work with the new OSX version and software.

Actually Apple uses the letter in the seed version to signify major development cycle changes. For example, 10.3.7 is seed 7S215. Very often after a version has a major demo at a macworld for example, the seeds following will jump a letter. This occurred with Jaguar.
