New nanotechnology coating could make paint, like, so two minutes ago

Small Ohio-based company Ecology Coatings has developed a "liquid solid" coating made up of nanoparticles that could render industrial paint coatings (like the ones applied to many of our gadgets, e.g.) pretty much moot. Instead of requiring loads of warehouse space and taking up to 20 minutes to dry after application as current paint coatings do, the "liquid solid" is cured in just a few seconds by exposure to ultraviolet light. The UV curing process also uses a net of about 75 percent less energy, making added exemptions from EPA regulations an added bonus to device manufacturers. The various licensees of the technology are exploring ways to make use of it in flexible screens, heat-resistant coatings, and small OLED screens, and products that contain the viscous solid could start appearing within a few months.
