USB as a wireless format might just be what we've all been yearning for: a life without stupid cables. Cable management is one of my most hated issues, never mind the fact that connectors break, making laptops useless and components pointless...

I think USB has a recognition factor that's tough to beat. Market acceptance, as a result, should be swift. Now those pesky cell manufacturers are probably balking at all this. Since BT is problematic (I have some friends with Razr phones where BT is SO buggy it's a farce), and mysterious and best, the few brave providers on the phones have nestled into a high-end niche.

But USB means data for the masses. Data that previously the cells have nickel-and-dimed consumers to death on. Seriously, paying nearly $2 just to have a tiny gif of a pot leaf on your phone's screen? Dude, you *must* be high...

Of course, the cell networks are just firing up crack rolled in c-notes at the consumer's expense. Here in the US anyway...

So yay! Let's hope this happens ALL OVER!

_victor

Comments on Wireless USB 1.0 set for May 15

I just hope all these wireless standards won't turn into another flash memory mess.
