Phone calls? Time consuming, intrusive. Instant messaging? Quicker — but for the ultimate in one-click expression of your internal states, there's the networked emoticon device. Get your loved ones an up-to-the-minute report on your inner self in realtime. Plug one in to your home network and install one at the office, then submit your mood state with the press of one of the four icons. Your options for expressing the finer shades of feeling run the gamut from a to d: happy, sad, so-so, or upset. You can even give as many third parties as desired access to the inner workings of your heart, as the networked emoticon is accessible via web page or cellphone. Pretty soon, we won't ever have to talk to each other at all.
Why only four?
Why not ten?
Or even many more?
And then put it on a screen.

What a pathetic device. Those who actually purchase this will have no one on the receiving end but themselves to read the output anyways.

I agree, the kissy icon is missing... i'd buy that for sure :) best part - it's powered by network cable
1) The emoticons should be sideways,
2) These aren't emoticons! If just four, they should be :) :( :P :o

The concept of "objets d'art" is lost on #1 and #2.

@#9 It was lost long before. Might even not have existed at all. It's like the emoticon monkey head that has been turned into IKEA lighting. I don't dislike the concept, but I do dislike the product.
There are a lot of these type of 'feelings by view' devices all of a sudden. There is that egg like device, the flower, etc... wasn't there even a t-shirt?! Wouldn't this one device inparticular be better if it was a screen that the emoticon appeared in their natural form? I guess this is more after someone looking for a unique device on their desktop than anything. Waiting on the pin for your shirt/jacket that the emoticon appears on so others around you know your mood before they talk to you.
