The marketing works. It's really unfair to take advantage of us sleazy gadget freaks like that. Reminds me of that subscription I used to have to 'T3' magazine. Cool stuff I could never affor, and hot chicks I could never have. It's fricken torture on high gloss laminate...

LOL...maybe I'm just more susceptible than most. I remember when Episode 1 was about to come out, MTV gave so details away a day or two before the premier. It was just a 3 minute spot, the naration came on and said somthing to the effect that they were about to give away some of the plot (plot ? in Ep 1 ?) so if you didn't want it to be spoiled to just 'sit back and enjoy the graphics'. Then this bikini clad asian chick came on stage and started dancing like a stripper with some techno-hiphop music playing. The voice went on talking and DID in fact give away some details that I had tuned in specifically to hear, but honest to god, I was so distract by the shakin' and groovin' that by the time it was over I couldn't remember what the heck had been said, which I'm sure the was whole d@mn point. I felt like such an idiot...

So I did what any idiotic geek would do. I hit rewind and watched it again...
and again...
and again...
and again...

Then as I was digitizing the footage into an mpeg I looked up the spoiler on the internet...

Oh yeah, that's a big TV...

OddManOut

Comments on Samsung's 40-inch OLED TV: pics

*golf clap for Nrage*

some dude

Comments on Samsung's 40-inch OLED TV: pics

Samsung, sony and all the other companies are just braging about their new screens but when will these hit the stores. Overnight, it would become the de-facto standard television that pretty damn near everybody owns. It would put Samsung in such a different territory that their heads would spin. They can do all the way up to 1080i, and have better contrast than most of the lcds. That is what I plan on doing soon. I have a tiny apartment, so no use for a huge tv. I'd go with LCD, but way overpriced for quality & size for me. Plus I will be moving around alot until at least 2 years from now. So I am not looking at this stuff as a serious consumer yet.

I've been reading alot about this technology, and really hope it pulls through. I see OLEDs and DLP battling it out in the future.

To whoever said it (I don't feel like reading through) I agree that it would be nice to hear news of volume production. I use my old Sony Multiscan G500 21" monitor in my bedroom
for computing, TV,and vid. With a good video card it can deal with any resolution that is commonly available -- and more. Seperate isolated and redundant systems are over and just don't realize it -- but the high price panels have a way to go in both value and performance. Actually projectors are looking better and better to me and may be the way I go next. I like the idea of an integrated system with a projector and an inertial wireless mouse and wireless keyboard. Total freedom of movement and position, with full and easy pc control.
