Just try reading a spreadsheet on a cellphone. For me, I'd rather carry a good PDA and a poor quality cell phone than some combined unit. Perhaps Palm is counting on "cell phone fatigue" setting in? When the price drops (which it will) I'll seriously consider a lifedrive.....if they could just have a video out so it could do powerpoint presentations it'd be perfect.

Mike Bowen

Comments on The Pipeline: LifeDrive reviews, ads in games, Big Brother in your e-mail

1# grab a bluetooth phone and the livedrive and be happy. that way you can update your phone without having to update your pda at the same time :P

hobgoblin

Comments on The Pipeline: LifeDrive reviews, ads in games, Big Brother in your e-mail

Oliver:

The N91 is amazing, but even though it has WiFi, it has no web browser or e-mail client. But I can't fit all of my MP3's into just 4GB's. Can't even pack in too many movies. 4GB is just too small for a multi-media device.

And as far as a PDA, I wouldn't trust a Harddrive. Solid state uses less power and is more durable. Not to mention I heard it was over $500 for one of these things!

So it's not really a Multi-Media player, and it's not really a PDA. But it IS *REALLY* expensive. So, Pass. :p

(But give me a 4GB Palm-powered Smart Phone and I'll be ALL over it!)

MaxSMoke

Comments on The Pipeline: LifeDrive reviews, ads in games, Big Brother in your e-mail

re lifedrive: i've read somewhere that a hard reset bug will erase everyting in your hard drive. now that's useless!

jay

Comments on The Pipeline: LifeDrive reviews, ads in games, Big Brother in your e-mail

I've been using the LifeDrive for about a week now. I'm loving the screen size and rotation feature, great for surfing the web. The battery life is about 2 days of moderate use. The USB drive feature and the desktop LifeDrive Manager software make file transfer a breeze. I was previously a Treo 650 user. The convergence is nice, but to me it was also a hassle. I hated smudging the screen when I put the phone to my ear so I used a BT headset, uncomfortable to me and another thing to carry. The LD selling point was the built in WiFi. I used to have a Tungsten|C but the LD is so much more than the C was.
