USB-powered lava lamp
We're pretty sure that the sheer geekiness of plugging this into a USB port kills whatever swinging bachelor pad/hippie love nest vibe you might be trying to create, but Lava World International is going to release a tiny USB-powered lava lamp to commemorate the 40th anniversary of everybody's fave/least fave Sixties artifact.

Groovy And so Lame it's a fun item.(if they don't charge a arm & a leg for shipping)How about a Lava Lamp Lightsaber?
This is actually the lamest gadget ever. There's no need, no interest in having a USB powered lava lamp. How about a usb powered telephone?
I dunno, it depends how much light it actually yields. The soft diffused lighting might be nice in say...a college dorm room or shared apartement/room where you need just a little extra light to see the keyboard but too much more will wake your roomate (although personally I've found that for about $0.06 you can usually rig up a little aluminum foil to reflect enough screen light downward so that the keyboard is *just* visible enough...or study in the bathroom...).
I fairly specific use I know, but it will likely see limit success. Useless crap always seems to... :)
what's the interest of it if? This is to be supposed as a relaxing and distracting item, and this way can only be lit when the computer is ON. So the fan, hdd, and etc makes noise.. I mean, you can't for example leave it ON by the night unless u keep the computer ON too...
wrrrronnggg number 4, if you have a USB hub (which cab be powered directly by a socket), you can use the lava lamp without having to turn on the computer..!!
If the usb hub has a socket, then u got (extra) cables again!
Oh, and being usb limits the lamp locations; because normally you have more 120/220v sockets than usb ports in a house..
Really, guys you are getting way too worked up. Just plug it in, sit back and let the groove mellow you out. Yeah, baby!
How ccan they get away with calling it a lava lamp when in reality it's just a light up snow globe? There's no lava in it, just bits of glitter and snow.
If this was an external unit for offloading the heat from a water cooling system, _then_ I'd be interested :)
