Many of you had questions about OHSO that I would like to answer. Would I buy it again? No

Was it worth the money? Yes

I purchased this toothbrush in chrome. I'm not being totally negative with the design. Personally, I hope they come out with more toothbrushes, but they stay clear of the common toothbrush industry designs ways.

Maybe it was due to my excitement over finally finding a product that I can put my own toothpaste in the brush and the awesome pictures on their website that caused my disappointment with the product. I'm not sure how I can describe the chrome. The product is all plastic, so it looks like someone used chrome from a Home Depot spray can. It's not bad, but it definitely isn't the look of a chrome pen. It looks like silver plastic.

Also, after you brush your teeth you put the cap over the toothbrush, which seals in the moisture. After a while it starts to smell a bit spoiled. I guess I am going to drill some holes in the top to allow the moisture to evaporate rather than smelling like clothes left in the washer.

It doesn't holds even less toothpaste than I expected, probably about 8 grams or around a third of that tiny colgate toothpaste. It's not too terribly difficult to get it in there, but not super easy. I'm going to try something less thick next time like Colgate PreviDent.

The toothbrush as a whole is fatter than it appears, which probably wouldn't be that big of a deal if it was made of quality materials. Brushing your teeth is awkward with such a short brush and the fat base, getting it to your back teeth is doable but not without thinking how odd the short brush is.

The clip on it is awful too. I think I will take it off and drill a couple holes for it to breathe.

Overall, the thing was only $20. Was it worth $20. Yes, I would say it's worth twenty bucks. Personally, I would like for them to come out with a high quality design with good materials. I would pay much much more for something that was more ultra-modern. You have a great design as far as the overall concept, but it's not a glamourous as it appears on the website. A bit of a disappointment. I hope they succeed, because I would purchase from them again if they came out with a better brush.

Which when it comes down to brushes...there really isn't a whole lot out there. They are all the same for the most part. I've owned SonicCare brushes. I have the Oral-B Triumph 9000 series, too (so far the best of all powered toothbrushes). I've tried other toothpaste in the toothbrush models such as freshngo (I think that was the name...that was not worth the $5 dollars!!).

Anyway, come out with the same product on your website with the shiny chrome and send me a product that looks like that product and I would gladly send you over what I paid for that Triumph toothbrush in terms of payment.

There's probably a demand for this sort of brush at the $19.95 price range, and I think I got what I paid for...my problem was I expected more.

So what is toothbrush industry design ways? Well, look at all the disposable power toothbrushes out there. Are any of them of any quality? No, because the toothbrush industry doesn't expect people to pay over $20 for their disposable product. Thus, they create boring rechargable powered toothbrushes that all look the same and pretty much the same. Ever try to find a power toothbrush that takes disposable batteries over $20? It's clear that if you are a traveler, then you should just either carry charging devices and the HUGE power toothbrush or just buy a regular manual brush.

Have you seen the SonicCare toothbrush with toothpaste built-in. Can that thing get any bigger? Neat design, but surely they can make a smaller one. Personally, I think the issue is money. They make so much profit off toothbrushes. The markup of their actual cost is huge, that they don't want to put quality parts in them for fear of pricing their product above what people will pay. If you look at anything in technology. Heck, look at flashlights. They have flashlights that commonly sell for hundreds of dollars. Do a search for flashlight forums, and see what I mean.

I guess, I am saying is there has to be a market for a toothbrush that has the ultra fine looks and tech-qualities of this brush with a quality finish. Charge me more, I'll pay it.

Your teeth are pretty important and seems like people pay a lot of money for other items, and I imagine this is an industry that is looking for mass production to sell to the wal-mart crowd and expecting that there aren't those out there that want a cool toothbrush.

Overall, I rate the brush an 8 out of 10 if I were to rate it. Why, well there isn't anything better on the market for what it does in terms of toothbrush/paste all-in-one.]]>Dec 19th 2005 2:05AM
