TomTom Go 300 reviewed
We like TomTom's small, easy-to-use GPS units. Like them in concept, that is. Since we've never actually managed to get our mitts on one, we just have to assume they work as well as they look. Well, our neighbors over at Autoblog actually got their hands on the TomTom Go 300 and gave it a full workout, finding the $620 system to be "a keeper and a bargain." (We'll have to stop in and borrow it for a while so we can see for ourselves. Okay, guys?)

I have been using the original TomTom Go pretty well since it was available in the UK. It is superb, very convenient, can be moved from car to car and is much better than the BMW system we have in company cars which cost 4 times more.
I have the original TomTom GO (circa 2004) and it rocks. My GF and my mother can figure out it, go figure, they still don't know how to use the radio.
What I don't understand why he says map accuracy is terrible in the original GO and great in this one, since they both use the same MAPS. Maybe he has more up to date on his brand new Go 300. But those same updated maps are released for the original GO too (I haven't updated yet, guess I should call).
I find the TomTom GO 300 for $569. I love it. Best GPS solution on the market and it has Bluetooth.

I have a horrible sense of direction and I literally sweat due to stress when I drive in an unknown area. Due to that, I have tried many GPS systems over the years and every single one of them have always been sent back to the retailer within 30 days.
The TomTom GO is the best gadget I have ever bought. This product has made that stress a thing of the past. It's easy to use, it gets me to my destination even if I make a wrong turn.
My coworkers love it too and sometimes ask to borrow it.
i hated tomtom when i tried it for 30 days. honestly i wanted to love it but nothing in central florida was correct on the map. most places were 1/4 mile off of where it should have been and often times on the wrong side of the road!

technology fine- map street name accuracy terrible. It does help me save time during the day but they are selling maps, and they are wrongly named- many times! If i had bought a paper street map this bad i would have binned it long ago. Its only the tech side that keeps it alive and useful.
Have had tomtom go 300 for one week now -. It stopped working after two days and after several emails to tom tom over three days without any response I have come to the conclusion they want to sell them but not service them: there customer service is non existant and I wish I had spent my money elswhere!
The support is hopeless. No replies to emails for assistance. Great gadget but poor customer relations
I had trouble copntacting tomtom customer service. Rang there head office number and the operator said 'it was not her job' to deal with customers !!!!
I live in Holland and have found there direct dial numbers so here it is for all of you
++ 31 20 8500800 (main switchboard number)
++ 31 20 8500851 Scott Johnston PR manager
Or you can try other numbers in this group and you may reach someone 852,853,854 etc

I have tried to send the below to Tom Tom for days and have not been able to send it through their website because it keep on asking to fill in Brand/Model PDA which I have already done. Very frustrated over the lack of response I have had previously.
I have previously used Navman for the past 3 years and only changed Last April to Tom Tom Navigator 3 which I found to be better. However Navman' support is much better and I will be thinking next time I change to go back to Navman. Tom Tom's support is almost non existence - unfortunately it does not match their products.
Re. Tom Tom Nav 5 problems
I sent you yesterday a long email through your website, only to find today, that it has not been registered with you. This is the 3rd time it has happen to me. Unfortunately I have been travelling abroad since August, and have not had the time to sort this problems out.
I have 3 problems each listed below as follows:
1. I am sure that your upgrade from 3 to 5 have a bug because since I upgraded I often get the error message
“Cannot execute\.NotificationsNamedEventsEventWakeUpTomTom”. Your emailed me a solution in August but it did not solve it. I have uninstalled my Nav 5 and gone back to Nav 3, and have no problem except I have paid for the upgrade and cannot get the benefit of the new features. What can be done? I am not prepared to have this drag on for weeks, because if so I will go back to Navman and will request a full refund.
2. I bought in the summer Traffic and again have been unable to use it. Could it be because of the error above? Furthermore I should also have been able to access one month free service when I upgraded again due to the above I have been unable to do so. I am using a Samsung D500 with GPRS enabled from Orange. Is there anything I need to do (settings???) with my phone when I want to have a Traffic Update? It is not installed properly. What to do?
3. Speed Camera – again no joy. Suddenly it came on after I had passed the camera. I thought it would work as follows. When I approach the camera (depending on the setting of the distance) I should be warned i.e. 200 yards before the camera and it will show the speed on my PDA. Will the software also support mobile cameras? If not I suggest you cancel my subscription with immediate effect and credit my card in full accordingly.
4. I wanted to but TOM TOM New GPS bluetooth receiver but was told by the retailer that I had to purchase a complete bundle which I was not prepared to do as I had only in the summer bought the Nav 5. Therefore I bought Holux GPSlim 236 but it does not work properly although they have the same chipset as yours. Again could it be due to the above problem?
5. I am going to try on a temporary basis to see if my Traffic can work according to your installation for my NAV 3. However I want to have my NAV 5 to work with all it’s new features.
Awaiting for your prompt reply
