There are 20 million (perhaps not all gagging to using iTunes to download podcasts, nevertheless) Australians (hmm, and the rest of the non iTunes Music Store world) that now can't get local content published without asking a friend to put it up online. Just having an Apple ID (which is an annoying nessecity for registering my new powerbook) isn't sufficient to podcast.
