M-Audio to roll out Flash Tracker CompactFlash-based handheld audio recorder

M-Audio FlashTracker

Looks like M-Audio is gearing up to unleash something that'll compete with the Edirol R-1 portable recorder. It's a CompactFlash-based unit that'll do 24-bit/96 KHz resolution, record to WAV or MP3, connect via USB 2.0 and offer mic, line and digital inputs. M-Audio has shown the "secret" prototype (shhh!) of the Flash Tracker and it looks real nice and small — it's up next to one of their Firewire 410 units for reference in the pic above. Should come out in September for about €450/$536US.
