First Xbox 360 shots in the wild in the wild

That smug smile Napoleon Dynamite here is wearing apparently got wiped off pretty quick when after posting some of the first live Xbox 360 shots in the wild, he apparently started begging the forum mods where he dropped them to take it down. His reason? His step dad started at MS as "Regulatory Compliance Manager", and he got ahold of a hardware test unit—we can only guess the rest. Way to go kid, busting your step father's NDA, then publicly outing him to his coworkers and the world. You are so grounded until you're 18. Well, either all that or it's just a Microsoft viral marketing plant so people don't start think the console's going to go up in vapor because they've only got about three months to get the damned thing out the door. Really, what kid lives in an empty apartment? Basically we're not ruling anything out.

As I posted on Joystiq, MS should see this as a GOOD thing.. This kid just saved MS millions in advertising. This is confirmed evidence that the machine is not vapor, has no delays..

And hell, the Xbox division is so different than the rest of the company - if it weren't for hearing the kid was begging to have the thread removed, I'd be inclined to believe it was staged. Of course, as pointed out by a reply on joystiq, the plea for removal could be just to make it -seem- real, but I'm not so sure.

I still think MS wins, and therefore shouldn't do anything negative towards the kid or his stepdad.

That "good comp" you speak so highly of costs thousands. Consoles, while still fairly expensive, are a few hundred bucks and outperform most computers graphics-wise for the first year or two after their release.

Don't get me wrong - I'm a huge fan of computer games (Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 were amazing), but I'll be buying an Xbox 360. This will mark the first console I've owned since the Sega Genesis...I think it's time.

WOW this whole thing is fascinating I feel, first of all he gloats about it then he realises how much trouble this could get his step-dad in THEN he says its a modded PS2 disguised THEN he says he took 4 years out learning a photoshop course and that this is in fact entirely fake. I dont think it is fake and that simply the poor kid didn't know the implications of what he was doing nothign more. Although to be quite honest HAS HE ACTUALLY TOLD US ANYTHING WE DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW? MS has to fire his dad. ND agreements have to be enforced. If he is allowed to violate the aggreement, it opens the doors for others. When you enforce legal agreements you have to do so blindly or you open yourself up to litigation when you do decide to enforce it. I think losing his job is enough and not some of the financial penalities that are often associated with ND agreements. Guess we all know who will not be getting a 360 for christmas!

I think all this kid has a non-fuctional case of the 360.

The first two pics prove nothing--they don't even show the A/V cables going into the TV that shows Halo2 (there could easily be an original xbox feeding it). And the then third picture is all black except for the 360 splash screen, that could be easily faked/photoshopped (that splash image is everywhere).

And near the bar code it says ReV42-1(I think.)

Its a very blurry picture so the barcode area is hardest to read.. and it might not be JIM it could be MM or JM or NM but it looks like JIM.
