Smashing mailboxes is a lot of fun, or at least that's what I hear. We have an even more secure "mailbox" than this in Britain - your house! It seems weird to me why you don't have letterboxes in your front door in America. The owner bent it back out and put it back on the post.  Next he bashed it off and threw it in a pond.  The owner then started taking the new mailbox in and out every night, so the guy stole the pole.
