First off, nobody is forcing you to replace your ________ mouse. Secondly, some people will like the new "Mighty Mouse" and some people will not. So what.

I am perfectly happy with the one button, so I won't be getting this. I'm reading the complaints about having to lift your left finger when right-clicking; whenever I right click, my left finger naturally lifts up so that wouldn't be a problem for me.

A B.S. sweeping generalization.

I've installed, replaced, or upgraded all sorts of things in my Macs over the years: optical drives, hard drives, RAM, floppy drives, NuBus adapters, FPU chips, mobo batteries, video cards, audio and video I/O PCI boards, a GPIB board, internal modems, a PowerBook screen, iBook video inverter, and even a few motherboards. And no, I'm not and never have been a Mac repair technician. I just like fixing or upgrading my stuff by myself.

As for some of the other comments: Apple perfected both the design and functionality of that crappy Compaq mouse linked to above (for example it has 360 degree scrolling touch sensitive buttons force sensitive buttons and a design that doesnt make you want puke. In addition, there is no need to be hostile because one reader acknowledges the fact that Apple computers are inherently less easy to upgrade. THEY ARE MADE THAT WAY. Short of HD and RAM upgrades Steve doesn;t want your hands in there. This is why Apple supports such a limited offering of hardware additions. If you have done major upgrades to you then you are in the minority. Congratulations and get back to your exciting life of coding.

I reiterate what some of the more enlightened commentors have said: if you don't like the mouse shut up and use your amazing $15 dollar mouse to navigate to a new page. You may have trouble believing it but this site is meant to be a forum about the product not general Apple gripes. This new mouse is basically the same as this. Same dimensions etc. The way the second button is implemented is by having the button hinge also down the middle. this means that you depress the body of the mouse on the side you are clicking and rather than a separate 'button', the body more or less leans forward left or forward right.

Personally i think id find the scroll ball annoying to use. A. for its small size i.e. having to repeatedly brush my finger on it more often to go scroll the same amount. and B. because my finger would not tend to brush it straight back so i'd find myself scrolling left and right the whole time. If i disabled the left/right scroll, then it would kinda defeat the purpose of it being a ball.

What really annoys me are all these people on here and in other posts quite quick to slag it off and only a handful of people have used it for a day. Everyone else is up in arms about it.

TRY IT BEFORE SLAGGING IT OFF PEOPLE!! If, after living and using it for a week you don't like it then fine but quit being so narrow minded and at least use it... and I mean use it - don't go in a store, play with it for 2 minutes and then dismiss it. Many things take time to grow. Don't have one, don't plan on buying one (my Kensington 5 button mouse does way more, but the scroll ball is intriguing).
