cubsWhat we're watching and why: Sorry, but I have to go with baseball again. The Sunday night baseball game is the Cubs at the Mets on ESPN-HD at 8 p.m. The greenery always look gorgeous in HD and, of course, the plays are much more spectacular in high def. The game may not prove as exciting as the HDTV, however. The Cubs have lost their last four games and the Mets are in last place in the NL East. But everything looks at least halfway decent in high def, so it could be a good game.

Here are some other HDTV programs showing on selected networks today:

ABC: Desperate Housewives (9 p.m.), Grey's Anatomy (10 p.m.)

CBS: Cold Case (8 p.m.), Deep Impact (9 p.m.)

NBC: Law & Order: Criminal Intent (9 p.m.), Crossing Jordan (10 p.m.)

Fox: Malcolm in the Middle (7 p.m.)

ESPN-HD: Baseball Tonight (7 p.m.), MLB: Cubs at Mets (8 p.m.), SportsCenter (11 p.m.)
