Overall that'd probably cost a little more, but it'd be a more flexible system.

I think the main thing that's stopping portable video players from being popular is the lack of content. The MPAA has things locked up so tight that not even Microsoft can get their system off the ground, which leaves it to only the tech elite who know how to use illegal tools to get their video mobile. That's a shame, since Apple has certainly shown that there's a market for portable media. It really only leaves portable DVD players and the PSP as platforms that the MPAA is willing to accept.

n8

Comments on iRiver U10 gets a price

And for about $300 you can get a PSP with a 1 GB memory stick and have the same thing as the U10 1GB with a bigger screen and more features.

BigG

Comments on iRiver U10 gets a price

Very good point #5. However, this device seems to be in a bit of a no-man's land, as far as I'm concerned.

Nice size and screen, but limited flash memory capability makes it's use as a PVP rather limited. At the same time, it's size makes it a bit bulky as a music player.

Regardless, I'm interested and want to see one firsthand before making final judgement. I also think this iRiver is nice, but come on, 20GB v 1GB at the same price? At that point it doesn't matter how hi-res the screen is, if you wanted higher-quality video you'd be taking up more space that you don't have. No thanks. You'll see a little slot on the bottom of the device.
