The phone you mentioned is just like all the others, everything except GPS, oh and did I mention you're currently preaching to the GSM choir? We're not looking to change carriers/service... just want to get a phone with EVERYTHING.

Just need WM5 and a 240x320 screen on this baby and we're good to go. Time to get rid of that miniature keyboard as I'm perfectly happy using on the onscreen one anyway.

I don't care what expansion slots it has as long as it can support up to 1GB in flash memory I'm happy (therefore no MicroSD please).

E71

Comments on HP iPaq hw6715 in the flesh

This device is better than a Treo in many respects. The size of the screen, memory, RF, and phone quality are all superior to the Treo (which I used for about a year prior to picking a 6515 up). I've been using the 6515 now since it was release. I'm running Goodlink on it, and it ROCKS!!! The battery life is not as good as a Treo, so I carry a spare battery (but I did that with the Treo too, so no difference to me) but I talk on the phone A LOT everyday, so YMMV. On the weekends, I can get and respond to all of my email and talk a little each day without recharging the phone. So I guess a normal user should get a full day from the battery. The Bluetooth on this device is excellent, no static, and I can use my headset from quite a ways away....it's the best bluetooth I've used...(I use a BT800, HBH610, and a HS850 headsets).

Since I used Goodlink, I leave the GPRS/EDGE running all of the time and I get my email, contacts, calendar, notes and tasks, all sync'd real-ime push to the device. The 6515 running Goodlink is far superior to a blackberry for business users. I even tried the 8700BB....it still stinks, it has that clunky dos like interface/usability. My Goodlink and 6515 is much more efficient, faster, better interface, and there aren't any courts threatening to take it away from me :-)

Bill

Comments on HP iPaq hw6715 in the flesh

HP will never be able to kill the Treo because they'll charge $600-700 with contract for a phone like that.

matt

Comments on HP iPaq hw6715 in the flesh

Anything is better than crappy OS, a lousy 22mb internal memory and a bad phone...

zao

Comments on HP iPaq hw6715 in the flesh

Well there are alot of unhappy treo users. The killer feature that the Treos first inroduced was the thumb keyboard, many manufacturers have copied this feature, which gives the Treo no technological advantage over a Windows mobile device. The new killer app for Windows Mobile is actually a feature of Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2, which allows an organization to push email from an Exchange Server account to a Windows Mobile Device. No matter what your feelings are regarding Microsoft and their products, berating every product they release in chat forums does not influence the people that buy these products, IT managersPalm has even announced that it will abandon the palm OS in favour of Windows Mobile.
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000840053340/
http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000867059961/

So saying that Windows Mobile sucks does not seem to deter the majority of Smart phone buyers who prefer it, or the manufacturers who adopt it.

Redhead

Comments on HP iPaq hw6715 in the flesh

Spare yourself the grief and check out the PPC-6700 just offered and immediately available through Sprint (and soon others).
