Buy company stock, get an HDTV?

LG 71-inch LCoS

This is either a bad marketing move or a sign that 71-inch HDTVs are way overpriced. Get this: if you are a registered shareholder of record on October 28th for SpatiaLight, an LCoS manufacturer, the company will make sure a 71-inch set is available to you. The set is the LG 71SA1D, which is powered by SpatiaLight's LCoS technology.

The press release doesn't mention any discount on the set, just the availability of it. This is a 1920 x 1080p display, but c'mon. Is this like the new corporate dividend for the Web 2.0 world? Dudes, just send me my dividend check and I'll find my own damn TV!
