Pioneer slowing down plasma production

"We need to take steps to become price competitive," Executive Vice President of Pioneer Tamihiko Sudo told a news conference.

This is going to be a good day for us consumers. Pioneer makes some of the best plasmas and they're slowing down production of them to make themselves more competitive. They are shutting down two of six production lines and lowering their shipment forecast from 800,000 to 640,000 units.

I would love to see Pioneer lower prices on their PureVision lineup to directly compete against Panasonic and Samsung. That seems to be their end goal and if it is, it might be the changing of the guard for Panasonic's reign as top plasma maker.
