Agreed.

GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and W-CDMA 1900/2100 makes this phone the first true 3G world phone. However, why is the headphone jack on these phones NOT the standard headphone jack found on mp3/audio players? Why is the jack a proprietary Nokia jack? I know why, but it would be nice customer service if they made the phones with a standard headphone jack.

You're comparing a subsidised phone price with an unsubsidised price. Apple and oranges.

I wouldn't expect to pay more than Ģ100 for the N80 when it's released in the UK (same price as the N70 and 6680 when first released). The common complaint over a lot of the newer "mp3/music capable" is they lack a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack.

However - do keep in mind that this is a phone first and foremost. Using a non-standard connector (like say the Fastport on the w800 music phone from SE) allows the end user to be able to answer calls with the bundled headset WHILE listening to music.

With a 3.5 mm jack, you would have to take the phone out of your pocket and press a button to answer a call.

As well, the non-standard jack's allow support for inline remotes as well. (Check the HPM-80 remote/handsfree/headphone unit that is going to be released with the SE W900)

They still make the best phones.
However they need more consumer phones with QWERTY pads though.
Moto has the Q, HTC has everything, Palm has the TREO.

Nokia's keyboard phone, the E60 is only slightly better than a Blackberry and has no camera.

I think the north american version will have umts 1900 but not 2100. Sucks but I can definitely live with that.

I love my 6620 to death and to me the n80 is a worthy replacement!

As far as other phones being better than the n80, the main reason I like the n80 over htc's offerings is the symbian OS. Both the palm and windows OS's are lacking when it comes to phone functionality. And I can say this honestly having had an, mpx220, smt5600, palm treo 650.
