Three words: GPU assisted transcoding
You like taking your various video content and reencoding it to play on portable devices, DVD players, to take up less space etc. right?
You probably don't like how long it takes. My poor cpu has spent hours converting The Chappelle Show to pocket editions, and that may all be a thing of the past. We've mentioned before what ATI's Avivo technology will bring to the table, but ExtremeTech has got an early look at their yet-to-be-released Avivo Transcode application (pictured). When paired with a compatible videocard it cut the time to convert video clips to an amazing 1/5 of the original.
