EV-DO data speeds drop with distance. Sprint uses 1900MHz while Verizon uses 800MHz. 1900MHz needs more towers to cover any given area. That is why Sprint has been tested at having faster network speeds for both of their network technologys. Take into effect that Sprint offers more EV-DO related content then Verizon. This gives Sprint an advantage in this area. Like other people here have mentioned, Sprint also has better prices for their EV-DO plan options.
This phone along with all of their current and future phones gives sprint the advantage overall against Verizon. I do not own this phone, but I do own the Sanyo MM 9000, which is a great phone.

Sprint's EV-DO Power Visions is turning out to be the better deal over Verizon's VCast. More options at better prices.

I am just glad to see EV-DO is proving it's worth in the US and World-Wide markets.

Jason

Comments on

This phone is really great except when it is in silence mode the menu is very laggy. Additionally, when you send a text message and the T9word mode does not know a word, you can usually go into ABC mode and type in the word manually. The phone will USUALLY then remember the word in T9word mode. This phone does do it and its really annoying. The last thing is that the camera phone image automatically flips, so sometimes your image comes out upside down. I'm not exactly sure how to get it to "flip". Turning the phone upside down doesnt work. I guess its a case of the phone trying to be too smart. It was released for sale on Wed 11/23 and only a few at a time are being sold in the sprint store...they only had 10 and I bought #9. The powervision is free for the first month...well worth it, great speed...they said its only $5 more a month if you want to keep it. If its like pcs vision then take advantage of the price now because in a few months it will go up. This phone is great I had the 8200 before this the only difference I see is that I don't like is that there is no visible antenna on this phone and the reception isnt as great as my previos phone that had a visible antenna. It is a great phone, and I do notice that the menu screen is very laggy when in silent mode, but other than that, its a great phone. One thing though, the speaker that you hold up to your ear is not as good as i think it should be...just not so crystal clear...but the external speakers are pretty good on the other hand. i like the fact that when you recive a call, it puts the state abrv. of the phone number, so if someone is calling you from 561-XXX-XXXX, it says, "FL", and when you type in a #, it tells you the city the area code belongs to..pretty neat.

Ben

Comments on

it's AD of the phone:)
http://shopping.naver.com/spcat/special_advice.nhn?type=CF&page=1&work=read&nv_rid=37204&page=1

Von

Comments on

Does Anyone know when the Blade will be out In New York City cuz I want it for Christmas and my friend is planning on buyin it but It not even out Yet. I have a few observations for earlier posts:

To address comment #41, to flip the image of the camera simply press the volume keys.

To address comment #29, the service light on the lid doubles as a flash/movie light.

To address comment #20, the BLADE has 6 Bluetooth profiles: hands-free (for car kit) (HFP), headset (HSP), dial-up networking (DUN), file transfer (FTP), object push (OPP), and Bluetooth pritning (BPP). It is using v1.2. I appreciate the fact that pressing the button on my Bluetooth headset (Samsung WEP150 - $59.99 at Samsung online minus 20% discount + free shipping (plus, it's smaller than the rest)) launches the cool Voice Signal software, which is capable of voice to text SMS. I have tested the BLADE with Sony-Ericsson and Motorola Bluetooth headsets as well and it works just fine. I have used it with my iMac G5 to transfer files - no problems.

I appreciate the fact that the big antenna bulk at the bottom of the RAZR is not on the BLADE, thus allowing for a longer lid that makes it easier for me to open.

There is 48 MB open in main memory bank but separate 270 MB bank for downloaded content from Sprint on-line music store, according to Samsung.

For an interseting twist, change the dialing options to "feather" to watch a quill scribble animated numbers and symbols on a parchment. There are 3 options total. Just like the A800 and a940, there is a high degree of animated GUI customization.

To use BLADE with a PC for mass storage access (48 MB), you must download the driver at www.samsungtelecom.com/drivers/driver.asp?model=SPH-A900.zip

Here are a few things I have noticed versus the RAZR:
* BLADE's external LCD is 65k color TFT; RAZR has 4k color STN (lower quality)
* BLADE's camera can swivel not only for easier use, but also to hide lens in deep recess when not in use, thus preventing damage to it
* BLADE has Voice Signal advanced voice recognition plus Voice Mode, which lets you, using speech to text, dictate SMS messages to your phone. When speaking clearly and distinctly, it operates very accurately.
* BLADE records video (either long or 15-second for MMS) as well as playback
* camera/camcorder options include standard full screen and widescreen. The widescreen does indeed give you more of what you are filming and does not simply put black bars across a fullscreen shot
* BLADE uses VoiceSMS from Sprint, which lets you send an instant recording to another user to retrieve without dialing up or going through menu systems

I love the BLADE more than any other phone I have had. Great sound and options in a sexy body with Samsung's quality and design. And for comment #13 about "ripping off ideas", I have 3 comments:
1. Yes, the RAZR sent out a vibe about the attraction of a thin phone first, but LG, Panasonic, and others have thin phones similar to the BLADE and RAZR as well. And, let's face it: outside of the RAZR, Motorola has been the ultimate pickpocket by copying other manufacturer's ideas as it struggled to make a phone that could even keep itself together after 2 months of use.
2. Samsung itself has been ripped off pretty heavily in the past and present by other manufacturers as well. See LG and Sony for prime examples.
3. You ought to just sit back and relish in the fact that if you are a Sprint customer, Samsung has responded to the masses' call for a thin, RAZR-like phone and not only delivered, but for $179.99 has given many people an ultra-thin phone with better quality components and a better feature set.

Javen

Comments on

#6: Who cares if you can chirp a nextel phone or vice versa?
