125 people get free Dish programming

Dish

In the "you gotta be kiddin' me" category, Echostar has named the winner of their "Name your town Dish" contest. The winner is the thriving metropolis of Clark, Texas. Every single Clark resident will now live in "Dish" and will get ten years of free satellite programming.

Clark is roughly 25 miles north of Ft. Worth and has a population of (are you ready for this?) 125 people or roughly the size of a kindergarten class in my area of the country. We don't know if any larger towns went after this digital carrot, but I sort of expected a town with more folks to win.

In any case, congrats to the residents of Clark Dish; you won't get any HDTV out of this deal, but maybe we'll run a contest in ten years to see if you're willing to change from "Dish" to "HDBeat". Thanks to all of the readers that sent this in!
