The down side of course being that currently this does not support any compression and uses a raw video format wrapped in a .avi container.

That brings me to a minor but often confused technicality; .avi is a video container or wrapper, much like .mov, not a codec in and of itself like MPEG4 or h.264 (along with hundreds of others).

shadow9600

Comments on iPod nano now does video too

I currently watch movies and TV shows on my WindowsMobile smartphone (Audiovox SMT-5600)... Think about it...when they equipped the regular model they put emphasis on making the screen larger to be more suitable for video.

Two, Apple wants to give you an incentive to shell out just a few more dollars so you can have the luxury of Video. Someone earlier said it best...a 30gb Video iPod is only $50 more than a 4gb Nano. It's called up-selling. They've been doing it with practically all their model lines. When I originally bought my first iPod (3g 30gb) they did this by providing a case and inline remote to the higher models exclusively.

I've owned 3 now, but I'm a bit disappointed in the fact that I have to buy a case and a dock separately for my 60gb iPod Video, but I digress;)

Chris

Comments on iPod nano now does video too

OMG the noob uses maxtor... anyone who's anyone knows only Seagate will suffice

Homan

Comments on iPod nano now does video too

OMG you double posted!
