Collette shows off designer Xbox 360 faceplates

First, it was celeb-designed Vaios (for charity). Now, French fashion house Colette is jumping on the tech-design bandwagon with a series of Xbox 360 faceplates tarted up by such fashion superstars as Karl Lagerfeld and Sonya Rykiel. No word yet on whether the faceplates — which are being commissioned for an exhibition called, cleverly, "Face Plate" — will be made available for sale, or whether Lagerfeld will just scoop them up to add to his burgeoning gear collection.

God, I hate faceplates for anything. They turn professional electronic appliances/gadgets into toys. Anything that lets you change faceplates is cheap.

Not to mention how Microsoft knows the PS3 is superior and so the Xbox360 needs something to draw people's minds away.

E71, I beg to differ.

I had my Nokia 6600 screen scratched up so bad that it made my eyes bleed just to look at it. Thankfully I was able to get a new faceplate (and make my phone look brand new in the process) for around $5....

So it ain't all bad.... Having said that, I DO hate psychadellic multicoloured faceplates with a vengeance...

I'm sorry, I meant 'professionally made' but if you can't get past a simple grammatical error like that then maybe you need to waste less time commenting on other people's comments.

As for the E72 guy; hey, you're one year younger than me - so respect your elders! :p

E72, on paper (spec-wise) the PS3 is better, hell the Xbox 360 doesn't even support 1080p. It also doesn't feature either HD-DVD or Blu-ray, it still uses DVDs. I don't know about you but many people would like to buy one of these consoles not just for gaming but also to have something that plays movies on next-gen media.

So, unless if something goes seriously wrong or the PS3 arrives with a crazy amount of bugs, it's definately the better console.

enough with the overheating, already! my xbox360 has never overheated once, and I have played it hours on end. Let's face the facts: OVERHEATING IS NOT A REAL ISSUE. we all know that only 3% of xbox360s have been reported defective. Haters are obviously doing everything they can to make the 360 look like a failure, and it's pathetic.

I love my 360, and do not regret buying it in the least bit. But I am by no means a xbox fanboy, I own a fair amount of nintendo and playstation products, and have even been spending more time on my PSP than my xbox latley. On what? UMD MOVIES (family guy volume 1)! Yes, I do watch them, and love them! ...So. there!

You guys really need to relax. They are all just toys. Even the mighty PS3. Someone who is serious about thier movies and home elec. will not buy the PS3 as a movie player. Dedicated players are always best. They are all just game machines with additional features. A furby or tickle me elmo are "professionally made". Collette is a very big deal outside the gaming community. I don't see how the 360 becoming the next Ipod is a bad thing. If you don't like the designer faceplates then don't buy any, but why do you feel that it somehow hurts you or the machine? More money is only good for the industry and a successful 360 only makes sony try that much harder. Take a deep breath and go back to playing with your toys.

first of all, let me say something.
i think people who blabber on and on about "realistic graphics" need to get a clue.
WHO CARES?!?!?! of course we dont want graphics like those of PSONE...but at the same time, we need suitable graphics. thats it..people who whine about graphics are SERIOUSLY out of touch with reality...SERIOUSLY..you want realisitic graphics? heres a quick solution...TURN THE FREAKIN CONSOLE OFF...WONT KILL YOU I PROMISE..once you turn the console off, look around you..best graphics you'll ever get...ever.its called..REALITY..get it?


now dont get me wrong, i like video games just as much as the next person, but i'm not so OBSESSED that i whine about graphics...me, i want style and comfort. i dont care if i have "optimal entertainment" with the next gen. movie format or wtf it is... i've got a movie theater type thing right down the hallway..nice comfy seats adn big screen HDTV t.v. with surround sound and 5 d.v.d. changer. for me, anything extra on ps3, is a TOTAL waste. so i really want the xbox 360 since they've improved the design MUCH better.. when i saw first xbox in stores..i said WTF IS THAT?!?!?! big ol' black box with a monster huge control with a big ol' green thingy smack dabb in the middle of the control.. so i kept my ps2 and i'm satisfied. but i think the design of the ps2 is a total UGH.. look at the freakin control!!! you could kill somebody with that thing! if you tilt your head sideways, the thing looks like a crecsent moon. FUGLY if you ask me, and the console itself? uck. i already have to keep my nintendo 64 sitting ON TOP of my PS2...i dont want a silver rock in between the two. i think it would be cool to have the best of 3 worlds for ME.. old school N64, somewhat oldschool PS2, and new school XBOX 360..yep. time for some variety people..

Both the Playstation2 and Playstation3 are ugly...the regular Playstation looked the best...the xbox to me looked good,it was just big,but i dont have problems with space.The xbox looks alot better than the PS2,and the Xbox360 looks ALOT better than PS3...the PS3 looks like my George Forman grill...when I first saw the PS3 controller the first thing that came to my mind was a boomberang...its horrible.I doubt if the original PS3 look like that seeing as there having fatal design flaws which are causing fires and meltdowns...but to get back on topic. I like the faceplates for the 360,id luv to customize mine,just so it would stand out.They should make controller faceplates to,and if you dont like them...so what?No ones making you buy them.I already see 3 im intrested in...now all i need is $20,by the way,im not a fanboy,i own pretty much every console since super nintendo,but i do prefer Xbox over PS,i prefer nintendo over PS also,but thats my 2cents.
