if you want voice recording so bad. buy a player that has that feature. there are plenty out there. no one forces you to buy an ipod.

decent line audio recording from a show off a board or submixer might be useful... but the ipod has that. so no loss there. i can think of maybe 4 times i might have wanted to do that. more than the 0 for "voice recording".

FM radio. another pointless feature. if i wanted to listen to FM radio so bad i have FM radios all over the place. literally. and short of using one to pick up an FM transmitter from my ipod i can't think the last time i used one. i wouldn't mind AM however. as AM generally has *non-music* programming that would at least sort of make some sense... seeing as if i want to hear music... i'll listen to my own. not FM.

once again. if you want an FM radio so bad. buy a player that has that feature. there are plenty out there. no one is forcing you to buy an ipod.

i don't understand why people can't just buy the player that has the features that they want. if the ipod has what you need... buy one. if something else has more features that you want to use... buy one. i really can't understand the evangelizing that has to be done pro/anti-ipod. i don't expect a medal for buying an ipod... and i don't think you get medals for not buying an ipod either. so who cares? apparently the people that actually NEED voice recording and FM radio are in the (apparently vocal) minority or else considerably more players including those features would have been sold. there are things on the ipod now i find superfluous and cluttery (games / calendar / notes / contacts) ... i don't really want *more* stupid never-used features.

thats my opinion anyhow. i'm starting to wish the ipod would get less popular if only to shut up the anything but ipod evangelism. i remember it being considerably more enjoyable back during the 1st-gen days when you could buy one and not be accused of doing it 'just because everyone else has one and you want to be popular.' right.

I just converted my pod to linux which does video and other stuff and i have filled over 1Gb with 6 video clips so the 256 is a waste of time that about 2:30 of a clip!
