The new flag ship laptop has the new carbon fibre cover and 1.3mp rotating camera building, there will be new kind of memory i think and dual core pentium m, and in very nice black, other details are unknown at the moment but i would wish for SATA HD with NCQ and maybe building 3G connection.

I would be very happy my company will get me this in the new year, then i might be able get a UTC universal myself and it would be a dopod variant since that's what we get in this area.

If get this UTC from you in nice silver/while then i guess i might be the only one with this colour in the country and give me enough money to get a nice sony ericsson p990i then it will complete for my mobile device software development, symbian, windows mobile, etc...

a) buying it, which means spending about 1,000 USD on this as it would be an unlocked GSM phone
b) Relying on companies to give us testing versions of their hardware
c) Relying on Microsoft or Palm to give us loaner equipment that usually doesn't run retail versions of the OS / Hardware.

I do quite a lot of testing, and having retail hardware is always preferable to having something that isn't released yet / won't ever be released but is 'similar' to something else.

One thing we don't have but would very much like is a Pocket PC Phone running Windows Mobile 5 that is a complete retail device.

Also, if we got one, I'd be able to use it as my phone. I want a PDA phone. STORY #1

So I work for a state agency, and we wanted to buy a Mac Mini from Apple for a new designer. We tried to go through Apple to get better pricing, and long story short, it took nearly a month to get it, despite the fact that the thing said 1-3 days to ship. It was ridiculous.

That's not the interesting part, though: what's interesting is that on a whim, I sent our mile-long e-mail trail to sjobs@apple.com (couldn't hurt, right?) complaining about the onerous process involved in giving Apple $600 via a state credit card. *And I got a call from an Apple VP the next day*.

Anyways, this VP said that everyone "up to Steve Jobs" had read my e-mail, and that they were going to fix their processes in the future. He said he understood my frustration, and he apologized. By this time the Mini had arrived and so the situation was semi-fixed; the only other thing he could do was acknowledge that their ordering procedure was broken, assure me that the right people knew it, and pledge to fix it, and he did that.

STORY #2

Go to http://www.consumerist.com/consumer/complaints/consumers-speak-covista-sneaking-money-out-of-customer-account-142560.php for the backstory, but to summarize, a long distance company continually failed to stop charging me for service over the last 10 months despite the fact that I had tried to cancel 4-5 times. I complained to the BBB and other places. I also then e-mailed their Board of Directors about it.

Well, I talked to them today, and they skipped the managers and went straight to a customer complaints person. This person confirmed that one of their execs had read the e-mail, and the exec got on the horn with their accounts dept. Another long story short(er), I'm cancelled and have basically gotten everything fixed; it was in fact fixed before I called back again today.

SO, TO SUMMARIZE:

I now have a history of directly contacting powerful people to get what I want. So if you don't give me the HTC Universal, so help me God I will sic Jason Calcanis on your asses, and THEN we'll see who's like texting people and stuff and who's broke and digging through the garbage for used analog phones. JUST A WARNING.
