When i saw this tucked away in the Philips booth @ CES, i noticed that their implementation with the e-ink screen was way better than that of Sony's e-reader. for those who didn't see both... the e-reader's page refreshes takes a half second to refresh prolly to push the new buffer on the screen, which causes a half second blank screen. this would probably bother those who spend a lot of time with the e-reader. Now Philips on the other hand implemented it differently and there was NO blinking screen upon refreshes. I HAD to talk to the lead engineer about that. It was quite amazing how they did it. there used tft technology under the e-ink screen to refresh the entire screen (patent pending). he said that in their labs they already have full motion vid running 20 fps right now. That s hot! it'll be VERY interesting to see what they roll out in the future.

BattleAngel444

Comments on Philips shows rollable grayscale display, scoffs at production ideas

You can WATCH a Video of the "Phillips rollable Display" here ==> http://www.tiempotec.com

The Page has a lot Videos about the CES.

¡Salud!-2

RobertoLV

Comments on Philips shows rollable grayscale display, scoffs at production ideas

There's also videos of this in IGN:

http://media.gear.ign.com/articles/679/679677/vids_1.html

Chris
