Epic Crafting

While everyone's interested in collecting powerful epic items, not everyone has the money to buy them from the auction house or the opportunity to raid Molten Core. For these players, there is always the opportunity of crafted epics - epic items created by trade skills. But just because they're crafted, don't assume they're easy to obtain. Besides the fact that the recipes themselves are difficult to acquire, they have long lists of rare materials. Read on if you're interested, but these items aren't for the faint-hearted!

Blacksmithing
Sulfuron Hammer - Before you faint at the sight of the materials list, be aware that this is one of the components required to create Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros.
Stronghold Gauntlets - Plate gauntlets that make the wearer immune to disarm, among other things. The recipe is a rare world drop, however.
Nightfall - A two-handed axe that has a chance to reduce your target's spell resistances. The recipe requires exalted reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood and you must be an axesmith to craft it.

New in 1.10! Jagged Obsidian Shield - The most interesting aspect of this shield is the following on-equip effect: when struck by a harmful spell, the caster of that spell has a 5% chance to be silenced for 3 sec. When you reach revered reputation with the Cenarion Circle, you can purchase this plan from Lieutenant General Andorov in the 20-player wing of Ahn'Qiraj, if you manage to keep him alive through the Rajaxx encounter. It's bind on equip, so you need to be able to craft it yourself to use it.
New in 1.10! Thick Obsidian Breastplate - A plate chest with a high strength bonus ( 38) and the following interesting on-equip effect: when struck by a damage spell you have a 30% chance of getting a 6 sec spell shield that absorbs 300 to 500 of that school of damage. Recipe drops off Prophet Skeram, the first boss in the 40 player wing of Ahn'Qiraj.

Leatherworking
Shifting Cloak - A nice agility cloak that improves your chance to dodge. The materials requirement of four skin of shadow is a bit of a pain, however, since they're bind on pick-up and drop only in the middle of Scholomance. The recipe drops from Knot Thimblejack's chest in Dire Maul, which you can access after you've freed him. You must be an elemental leatherworker to craft it.
Molten Helm - A leather with fire resist. The recipe requires friendly reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood and you must be an elemental leatherworker to craft it.

Tailoring
Truefaith Vestments - These priest-only robes have an excellent healing bonus and reduce the cooldown on the fade ability by two seconds. The pattern is a rare drop from the final boss of Stratholme (Scarlet side). However, these robes are bind on pick-up, meaning that you need to make them yourself - they cannot be traded.
Robe of the Archmage - These mage-only robes have an excellent spell damage bonus and a critical strike bonus, as well as a mana restore on use ability. The pattern is a rare drop from Pyromancers in Lower Blackrock Spire. However, these robes are bind on pick-up, meaning that you need to make them yourself - they cannot be traded.
Updated in 1.10! Robe of the Void - These warlock-only robes have an excellent spell damage bonus as well as a pet heal on use ability. Despite the fact that these robes provide a very high spell damage bonus ( 46 to all spells), they seem weak in comparison to the other class robes - but on the plus side, you'll find the pattern on the auction house for substantially cheaper than either the Truefaith or Archmage patterns. The pattern is a rare drop from Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance. However, these robes are bind on pick-up, meaning that you need to make them yourself - they cannot be traded.
Gloves of Spell Mastery - Gloves that improve your chance to get a critical strike with spells by 2%. The pattern is a rare world drop.
Flarecore Wraps - Bracers with high mana regeneration. The pattern is a rare drop in Molten Core.
Flarecore Robe - Robes with fire resist and high stamina. The recipe requires honored reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood.
Flarecore Mantle - Shoulders with high fire resist and decent intellect, spirit, and stamina bonuses. The pattern requires honored reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood.
Flarecore Gloves - Gloves with high fire resist as well as some intellect and stamina. The pattern requires friendly reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood.
Flarecore Leggings - Legs with an excellent spell damage bonus and some fire resist. The pattern requires revered reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood.
Core Felcloth Bag - A 28-slot, warlock-only bag for holding soul shards. The material requirements for this bag are immense, and whether the cost is worth the extra bag slots is questionable. The pattern is a rare drop in Molten Core.
Belt of the Archmage - A belt with a high intellect bonus that improves your chance to get a critical strike with spells. The recipe drops from Knot Thimblejack's chest in Dire Maul, which you can access after you've freed him.

Engineering
Force Reactive Disk - A shield that has a chance to damage near-by enemies on a successful block. (Be warned - this can wreck havoc on crowd controlled monsters if they're close to you.) As with most engineering items, this requires 300 engineering skill to use. The schematic can drop from any of the bosses in Molten Core.
