Because some people have backyards in which they'd like to be able to watch tv, and not on a little screen.  I've been keeping an eye out for something like this that's affordable with some decent size to it.  This looks like it would easily be more expensive than what I'm looking for, but still... I watch a lot of sports and I want to be able to do it out back by the water.
