That's why the screen looks washed. It's just overexposed in this photo. On my planet, at the extremes you would only see the frame...<br>And Photobob, do you have a technique for keeping the flash off the screen? (I once saw a guy trying to photograph a rear-projection slide show with a flash. That would have been even less satisfactory). The only solution here is to make two exposurees and merge them - Photoshop's new HDR function will do that. Last time I checked, (which wasn't too long ago)there was no 50" LCD in the market and even the 46" LCDs were way, way more expensive than 50" plasmas - something like $4000+ for a 46" LCD vs $2900 for a Panasonic 50" plasma.<br><br>Color rendition in LCDs are still problematic IMHO.<br><br>I'm all for thin screens, but until they solve the LCD refresh rate (pretty much solved now, just needs to be available on more models) and the color rendition (still a problem IMHO) I'm staying with plasmas. SED is not here yet, and who knows when will it be ready for consumers at a competetive price., i think never, SED is a brand new technology that was guarded at CES 2006 from visitors and photojournalist in a dark room, hmm.., that makes me wonder what Canon and Toshiba have to hide? with their hype-claims the preach SED as the beast thing ever. This marvel cortesy of the folks at Philips IS right here.<br><br>#14: LG-Philips LCD is a joint venture between both companies to produce TFT LCD panels. Both companies also have another joint venture; LG-Philips CRT which produces various CRT shapes and sides. The companies have NOT merge, only displays and CRT businesses have.<br><br>#18: In what country, have you seen a 50" Panasonic plasma for U.S.$2,900.? and tell the truth. Not even the cheapest dealers will sell you a floor or open box unit for that price. <br><br>#17,20 and 21: i saw another set of photos from this press conference and only the one in white {far right} was REALLY pretty, the other one is just... OK. These Koreans know who to target the purchasers, nice good-looking girls paired with large flat panels what else can we ask for?<br><br>The price for this baby won't be cheap, just check the 55" under the LG brand, a whooping $15,000.
