the screen looks like that because the photographer used a slow shutter speed to properly expose the room and the people. That's why the screen looks washed. It's just overexposed in this photo. (I once saw a guy trying to photograph a rear-projection slide show with a flash. That would have been even less satisfactory). The only solution here is to make two exposurees and merge them - Photoshop's new HDR function will do that. Anyway, I suspect the photographer (assuming he bothered to put any thought it this anyway) was more concerned about getting the people in the shot to get an idea of the *size* of this compared to people. Color rendition in LCDs are still problematic IMHO.

I'm all for thin screens, but until they solve the LCD refresh rate (pretty much solved now, just needs to be available on more models) and the color rendition (still a problem IMHO) I'm staying with plasmas. Oh, and even the 1080p resolutions shouldn't be a problem for plasmas anymore.
