I'm very happy that the computer does not sport a 7800 chip as the high end mobile cards drain batteries very quickly. If you don't know, this line of notebooks is marketed as "thin and light". While these notebooks are not exactly light (5.5 lbs/2.5 kg), but they are thin at 1 inch (2.5 cm). The battery life isn't terrific at 4 hours, so if it had a high end graphics chip the battery life would be abysmal, and one would be better off buying a desktop replacment such a the Dell Inspiron XPS or some Voodoo Heavyweight.

I also want to point out that these laptops are mostly upgradeable meaning if you happen to buy a T2400 and several months later you need the power of a T2700 (if it comes out), you can buy the processor, open the underside cover and replace the CPU. Everything from RAM, internal PCI-E, hard disk drive, DVD burner, and even bluetooth and wireless, in addition to the CPU can be upgraded by removing a cover. When those blu-ray/HD DVD slim burners come out, you can go and the drive and upgrade the computer yourself. The self upgrade path may seem expensive, but if you just need a minor upgrade, you don't have to buy a new computer. For example, I just bought the new Seagate Momentus 5400.3 ST9160821A which is not readily available from that many manufacturers.

Also, the new Lenovo Thinkpad T60p is awesome. Just got one and it is hellava fast machine and very capable for workstation work such as Maya that I use for animation. So that would be a good alternative if you don't want an Asus.

Just don't buy this Lamborgini crap as its all marketing.

ranron

Comments on Asus shows specs, price for Lamborghini VX1 "supernote"

From my above, if you are really desperate for the logo, get the V6J and buy a Lamborgini badge at a Lamborgini dealership or online and put it on yourself.

ranron

Comments on Asus shows specs, price for Lamborghini VX1 "supernote"

What's the deal with Taiwanese Laptop makers doing license Italian exotic-based automobile computers?

The auto laptop tie-in started with Acer and Ferrari, then some Crappy Company was doing NASCAR, laptops AND desktops, then the Hummer one laptop which at $3,800 it better greet me when i wake-up AND kiss me goodbye before heading out to work. and now Asustek's Lamborghini Diablo yellow.
