Imagine a cinema which had 50+ different screens, each screen had only 40 seats, and there was no set time for a show to occur.

When you went to the cinema, they'd tally up how many people wanted to watch a specific film and then when it reached a threshold (say 25), then they'd send you to one of these screenings and start your selected movie!

A screen like this would pay off really quickly, instead of all those empty seats when the film has run it's course. Of course it'd be good to have a couple of big screens around, but just think of the possibilities.

Idea?

Comments on Panasonic's 103-inch plasma shipping this year

so figure 100K for the set. plus rewireing your house for the amperage it draws. plus sunglasses for the excessive brightness plus the frustration of dead pixels and replacing it once or twice.. not to mention blowing up HD 1080p to 103" so it looks as creappy as SD on a 27" set. That's how many films at the cinema at 10/pop? crazy man just nuts. ludicris actually. they will laugh all the way to the bank on the suckers that buy this thing.

tom acito

Comments on Panasonic's 103-inch plasma shipping this year

This is good news...if they weren't pulling our legs for more publicity and hype... That photo from CES with no consumer-style bezel {compare to LG's and Samsung finish products} does give indication this will be for the CEDIA channel-type of installer showrooms only. I can't really imagine it selling in a BrandsMart U.S.A. or Circuit City looking like that.

It will be very nice if Panasonic design a bezel, speaker sets and a table stand similar the the PX600 series of normal size plasmas and set it with the other Vieras. I wonder if this sudden rush into production and distribution have anything to do with the upcoming 80" Samsung and/or the World Cup?

Perrey Z.

Comments on Panasonic's 103-inch plasma shipping this year

I asked my Friend Jyunko over at Panasonic's Japanese headquaters and this thing is a definetely a go., she claims price will be in the Yen 5,870,000. and Yen 8,780,000. that's around U.S.$50,000 and $75,000ish.
It weights a whopping 384-LBS., have 9-6" fans and only have 3 dedicated digital connections., nothing like RF coaxial, S-Video or Composite. consumes no more than 700-Watts at 50-Hz., now the bad news is, it's not stich, but it's NOT A SINGLE SHEET OF GLASS either, but 4-panels "blended" together. Again, NOT STICH but blended!

Manufacturing is currently in process at Matsushita's newly PDP plant. The bad thing is this will be targeted to large commercial applications such as sport arenas/venues, university halls, airports, car dealerships etc. so that explain the simple aluminum bezel and the connections. I asked her about the posibility of producing a consumer-friendly version for next year's high-end 1080p line-up and she said, that will be impossible due to many logistic factors. Perfectly understandable, but still we can all dream of having such a monster in our home theater rooms.

Perrey Z.

Comments on Panasonic's 103-inch plasma shipping this year

if u pay me 10000 i will give u one

tou
