I'm no maths expert or anything but isn't 3 lots of 12,000 about 36,000? Getting a calculator out shows that a mere 2 of these $28k projectors would create the 24,000 lumens.

Imagine having two monitors next to each other, is the output twice as bright as compared to a single monitor? No, it's twice as large, but the same brightness.

Same applies for shining two projectors next to each other.

But hey, maybe you're right and the company that produces these things is wrong. You'd think that they'd get a calculator out before charging $28,000! They should employ you as to research guy! Click the "read" link and you will read: "[...] If two of these [...] are stacked and aligned together [...] they can produce a total of 24,000 lumens on screens up to 600 inches in diagonal size."

Two monitors may not be able to produce twice the brightness of one, but two projectors can.
