I believe it was first brought up umm, a 6 months+ ago when the idea of the "true video iPod" came up.

And Steve, I'm with you on this one. I have found my iPod to be very bugging and generally disappointing. The combination of poor battery life, worthless video feature and limited features have left me frustrated again and again. For me, the iPod peaked in its 3rd generation...and since then its quality and design have fallen pray to high demand and limited competition. For this very reason, I kept my 40GB 3rd Gen when I got my 60GB Video iPod.
