The earliest tech I remember was my original Game Boy. For those of you who aren't that educated in the subject of the mid-80's, a duplo is a giant, kid-friendly Lego. This is great, this generations kids are so wired on their tech, that we are starting them early and often on digital cameras and FP(MP)3 players as opposed to simple toys.

Jake

Comments on Fisher-Price unveils Kid-Tough camera and music player

I'm down with the ruggedized camera for my little guy and nieces & nephews. When you touch the pad everything is shifted 5 - 10 pixels so they pretty much get frustrated with it after awhile with certain activities on it.

The key is how rugged is? I THOUGHT the leapster was super rugged but it has succombed. My kids LOVE our digital camera that I VERY occasionally let them use while I'm supervising. My 3 year old plays with my old tinker toys, wooden puzzles, etc. I'm not a big fan of all the cheap plastic junk that's out there today. This camera, however is great for my son. He sees us taking pictures and wants to do the same. When I was a child I used an old Kodak, without film, and used my imagination. I think this is a great alternative. The picture quality is really unimportant to us, but the fact that he can use the camera, and see the pictures he takes is. I agree that the price tag is over the top. It should be priced around $30, but I'm willing to plunk down for this one.

By the way, some of the technology offered today is fantastic for kids imagination and learning. They always want to take pitures & I don't want to risk them breaking our good camera. We've bought disposables for special occasions & then have to pay to develop alot of bad pictures. The kids love seeing the pictures they take which aren't bad quality considering they are from A TOY! Also - look around at all the toys your kids don't care about & consider how much $ was spent on those. - AND Game Boys being old!! You are way to young to know about old school technology!! Seriously!! I would have to agree, I do not know one kid that didn't want to take pictures when they were growing up, and to pay for developing of ANY pictures they take is ridiculous! And to buy a digital camera that would get broken if thrown, not good either! So I think that this is a great solution, I think the $69 price tag is steep but well worth it if your child is getting to use there creative side, learn, and experience with this, and who knows, might even get some early photographers out of this!!!!!!

stacie
