My new use is pairing my BT headset with my laptop for Skype. Works pretty darn well, and makes it much more like having a real phone. Even though my laptop has the BT built-in, I could see getting this dongle to increase the range - if indeed it lives up to that 300 ft claim. With my internal I only get about 10 feet without too much static.

I wish there were more PC utilities to do interesting things with Bluetooth, but I've only found a couple: a Winamp controller and an auto-lock that restricts access to the PC when the phone isn't nearby. Its just really not needed for anything I do. All Wireless products you buy which are RF come with a reciever. The only thing with bluetooth is basically you dont need a pripiotary reciever if your laptop has built in bluetooth.

but thats only gonna help you if you use a bluetooth device, and most stuff works great without bluetooth. The only thing I could ever see myself using bluetooth for would be wireless headset for my xbox... but then the xbox controllers dont have bluetooth so I would have to buy a bluetooth adapter, in which case I could just buy a non-bluetooth headset for cheaper

I see bluetooth becoming way more useful in the future when everything supports it, then it does today.

In a way, a Mini bluetooth adapter defeats the whole purpose of bluetooth.
