There seemed to be a lot of "well, I dunno...we'll have to see..."  But on the other hand, it's better than having a whole lot of promises that don't materialize -- or worse, being copied by competitors.<br><br>One thing I am still disappointed by is her response to why it was named Wii.  For instance, this quote coming from a marketing guru: "In the end, it's not necessarily what something's named, it's what it does." Consumers are already getting nickled and dimed in this industry and it's only going to get worse.  This is not something that *consumers* want, but it is something that is being forced down our throats. She's amazingly open about what she knows here and she even brought up the finer points of discussion that is obviously ongoing inside the company. She stresses it, and it's true, that there's still much that's an unknown at this point in terms of specifics. But Nintendo's done a great job of promoting overall atmosphere at this early stage in the game (and I think the naming scheme falls into that). It's great to see the level of transparency and openness here to the public. It's short, so it doesn't need an acronym, and it's different. What's wrong?<br><br>My guess as to why they used it, and are just saying not to worry about it is they probably conducted a lot of market research. They don't need us to like it. They need the moms and dads, non-gamers, and little kids to like it. Anybody that wanted a Revolution probably hasn't changed their mind and decided they don't want a Wii. It's a little strange in English. The war to dominate the next generation video games console seems to have brought Microsoft and Nintendo together, to fight against the Sony PS3.<br><br><br><br>In a bizzare interview, Peter Moore, VP at Microsoft went ahead and slammed the price point of the new PS3 (around $600), while ignoring that the XBOX 360 with an HD drive will probably end up costing as much. <br><br>Two quotes from this report in Reuters. <br><br>"Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?" Peter Moore, a Microsoft vice president, said in an interview. "People are going to buy two (machines.) They?re going to buy an Xbox and they?re going to buy a Wii ? for the price of one PS3."<br><br>Eh?? <br><br>"People will always gravitate toward a competitively priced product ? like what I believe Wii will be ? with innovative new designs and great intellectual property like Mario, Zelda and Metroid." <br><br>Its shaping up to be an interesting summer!<br><br>If the two players do merge and produce one console (ok ..allow us one joke please?) will the new product be called WiiBox or will be an XWii? I can think of nothing more repugnant than having to constantly pay for a game I've already bought in order to spend time downloading masses of content that I didn't want in the first place and probably won't have the time to play anyway.<br><br>Episodic content just feels like a way of artificially extending the shelf life of games that were empty to begin with.<br><br>And when did the amount of crap you can store on your GAMING CONSOLE become such an issue? (Beyond, of course, how much you can fit on a save card?).  HD content is overblown and overrated.  What percentage of gamers actually own a HD TV, or wish to spend several thousand dollars to get one?<br><br>'A nice form of flattery' my arse.  The Sony controller is a blatant ripoff and an attempt by Sony to again eat into Nintendo's developer list.  You can bet they'll be putting the pressure on developers producing motion sensitive games for the wii to consider a multi-platform release.<br><br>But maybe I'm just bitter.  Eh...<br><br>Oh yeah, and believe it or not, I actually like the name Wii.  At first I was shocked by the name change and left disbelieving, but quite frankly, I've come to like it.
