The car in the movie was a manual not an automatic.
I don't know if you realize, but this isn't the actual car from the movie, it is a duplicate. Its cool no matter what, and it most likey took a lot of time to build. There isn't much you can do now. You cant change the transmission. If ya cant say anything nice, then dont say it at all.
lol... I'd love to own that car.

Thats ONE of them. Another one of the BTF cars used in the movies is about an hour from me in a car musueum in Rockford, IL.
kinda of a shame, they took a classic car, in mint condition, and threw all this crap on it..
Dont get me wrong, im not a delorean lover, but a delorean, with 2900 original miles, that has just sat in a garage for 20 years, take it, drop 5 grand to get everything fixed. then build a REPLICA BTF time machine?

I mean, it takes some serious dedication and perhaps a little too much spare time to make such an authentic replica. But who wouldn't want to own a car like that?
Honestly, I'd have the car in a flash if 1) I had the money, 2) I had somewhere to store it and 3) I could get it into the UK without having to endure the relentless jibing of my HM Customs friends.
So, who wants to feel old today? You will after I remind you all that BTTF was filmed 22 years ago. How'd you like that!?

I almost purchased one of these a couple years ago. They freegen rock. We have some guy near where I live that has a camera near the front and has some video of him rolling down the street in the big D. Its amusing to say the very least.

#27 Technically it's a Norther Irish car, not American, although it was clearly designed for the American market. I'm English, and I love it, even sans time machine capabilities ;)

i hope the person buying it knows a DeLorean is one of the most pieace of crap cars. there is a reason it only has 12k miles on it, the battery dies after five mins of having all thoughs lights on i am sure... but i do have to say it is pretty sweet lol i guess you could just park it in your drive way, it would be like a 'siren' for geeks

All of that "JUNK" he put on his car is fetching him twice the price of a regular Delorean and that is just where the bidding is at right now. .Who knows where it will end.
Maybe you should rethink your position.

When they make cars for movies, there usualy are at least a dozen or so clones made for various reasons. Some are wrecked and others are kept in differant locations for differant scene shots.
You could buy this then go back in time and cancel your payment that you made for it and score it for nothing.

so funny that this was posted.. i'm a huge bttf fan.. and what is even more crazy is that i saw this car driving on the 5 on friday, i couldn't believe my eyes, i chased him down and snapped some shots with my cell phone camera, earlier this morning, i was on ebay looking to see what cool bttf stuff was on ebay (i tend to do this a couple times a week).. low and behold it was the delorean.. i emailed the guy selling it, he confirmed that was him on the freeway just going home from the local dmc shop, which i knew it had to have been him hence it was the best darn replica i have ever seen.. anyway this car is a beauty, one of these days i hope to build a bttf style one myself. here are the 2 photos i snapped with my camera phone on friday: http://www.stevo.org/photos/bttf/
i must say seeing this guy on the freeway made my day.. absolutely incredible in person.. finding out the guy who owns it was wonderful.. seeing that he's selling it.. makes me feel sad for him :(
