Rock launches Xtreme CTX T2700 gaming laptop
UK rebadger PC manufacturer Rock has a blazing new 17-inch laptop in store for British gamers, the Core Duo-powered Xtreme CTX T2700. As its name suggests, this model sports a T2700 CPU running at 2.33GHz, along with 1GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM, a zippy 7,200RPM 100GB hard drive, 8x dual-layer DVD burner, and on the connectivity tip, the always-popular Bluetooth and three flavor WiFi. Graphics on this model also promise to impress, with a 512MB-equipped GeForce Go 7900 GTX card from nVIDIA handling the heavy lifting for the 1920 x 1200 WUXGA display. As you'd expect, a configuration like this doesn't come cheap, and will cost around $3,200 when it drops in the next few days.

It's a very sweet laptop, I'm using one right now (only not Rock-branded, and with a T2600 and 256mb 7900GTX)
The LED clock on the front panel is a real attention getter.
$3,200 is actually a GREAT price for a laptop with these specs. It's much less expensive than Dell XPS, Voodoo PC, Falcon Northwest, etc.
I'll be purchasing a laptop in the next few weeks, and this laptop has given me another option... if the system is quality, I'll most likely be getting it. Thanks for reporting the "Rock."
Yeah it is a great price. The laptop is very heavy with a solid feel -- picking it up from one corner (takes some strength!) does not result in visible flexing, or creaking, or any of the cheap stuff like that.
If you're in the USA and want more local support, ISTNC.com also sells this laptop under its ODM model, Clevo M57U.
If you (or anyone) are interested in more opinions on it before making a purchase, check out notebookreview.com forums, or email me at "sean -at- flashfiresystems -dot- com"
ATTENTION: This company DOES ship to the USA. They don't charge US customers VAT, but you may have to pay an import tax, state-side.
Does engadget have to post a blog every time some company rebrands this Clevo?
