But seriously why would you fork out 30k if you can get the same quality 3d scan spen only spending a a few hundred quid to a couple of thousand quid...

Your typical 3D scanner is fixed and turns around the object. Presumably, with this you can move your hand around the object however you like, and it will make a 3D model of it. YOu're not limited to a whatever your 3D scanner is designed for.
