My Space: WoW edition
In what very well may be a sign of the coming Apocalypse, Blizzard has joined with the thousands of other friend seekers by launching a World of Warcraft My Space page.
In only a few days WoW has managed to accumulate over 40,000 friends, impressive for a computer game with very few social skills.
WoW's My Space page features the same muddled, sensory-overload design featured throughout the social networking site and My Spacers can download buddy icons, game trailers, concept art all while listening to the soothing sounds of the WoW theme music.
I can see Blizzard working here, it would appear to be a good marketing opportunity, but I can't help but think a game with over 6 million subscribers doesn't need to resort to searching for online friends to sell more subscriptions.
