Guess when the final 360 dev kits were sent out. September 2005 and when did the system launch november 2005. wow just under 2 months for the 360. The PS3 is in a better situation here.

Yeah, you're differently wrong on that one bud...let's see, first of all, the 360 components were already fitted inside of the actual formfactor size, where as the ps3 is still in a nice big box...that's why there hasn't been any overheating and very little noise (more room for heat to vent and fans don't have to get the heat out as quick). Secondly, read on about how it has an 80 gig hdd to stream and cache game data...last time I recall Ken Kutaragi showing his ugly face in public he stated that the $600 ps3 would only have a 60 gig hdd...developers are working with hardware that is above and beyond what consumers can purchase! How is this helping game developers create games to run well on actual consumer units?! Your logic is astounding. That's like complaining that a truck equipped with a fully blown small block 350 runs hotter than the little inline four cylinder wedged under the hood of your Honda Civic. It's not an apples to apples comparison and, IMHO, your comment becomes irrelevent. Furthermore, Sony will also have its share of heat related issues with the PS3 (at least until the die processes of the GPU and CPU are shrunk), so I find that you have hardly any room to speak in regards to one of the Xbox 360's faults. You can't have powerful hardware crammed into a little box, and then complain when it runs hotter than room temperature. I don't hear hardcore PC gamers bitching that their Core 2 Duo, overclocked AM2, SLI, or Crossfire equipped gaming rigs run hotter than than 30C all the time.

Oh..and Xbox 1.5..so friggin mature. At least Microsoft doesn't have to worry about 10-20% operational yields on their CPU, with an even smaller number of that 10-20% yield having all cores fully functional. I guess the advantage CELL has disappears if 1 SPE is disabled off that bat, and 2 or more SPEs don't work in most of the chips thus produced; hopefully, as manufacturing goes into full swing, the yields will improve and fewer chips will be in someway handicapped (god forbid the occasion, but if I have to in the near future, I'd like to go through a CELL equipped MRI without having to worry about the imaging on screen going awry due to a single chip not functioning in any way, however small it may be). But, in any case, keep on drinking Sony's Crazy Ken brand Koolaid, Noshino. It'll help ease the sting of knowing that true gamers don't solely pledge allegiance to one brand or console, such as people like you. Furthermore, true gamers can appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of all consoles equally...again, something people like you can never apparently do. If you read my post, you will plainly see that I agree it runs hot; however, I'm not complaining about it. Also, what part of CELL being, in some part, based off of the PPC architecture do you fail to comprehend? You site MS for having a console that runs hot. Guess what? Sony's going to have the same issue. You can't turn a blind eye to a heating issue that will be just as prevalent in the PS3 and cry foul over the same issue in the Xbox 360 at the same time. Ya didn't think of that, did ya?

And again with the Xbox 1.5 crapola...If you wanna talk about console inferiority, right off the bat, let's start off with the PS3 and how its memory is split into 2 256 MB chunks (one being used by the CPU, the other being used by the GPU). If it was just one large 512 MB chunk of ram, developers could use the memory any way they decide to (something MS was fully aware of). Furthermore, the GPU in the Xbox 360 A) serves as the basis for unified architecture driver support in Windows Vista, B), was designed from scratch, and C) was tailored specifically for the console; it's not only a good GPU, it's also innovative. You know what Sony had Nvidia do? They shoved a glorified Geforce 7 series chip into their machine and called it good (one reason I hoped Sony would stay the hell away from Nvidia, if for nothing else but complacency in terms of design on Nvidia's behalf). I hate to burst your bubble, Noshino, but your $600 PS3 will be technologically outdone in 6 months time after launch; the Xbox 360 is not immune to this either, and it will also be obsolete in a very short amount of time.

Oh, and I forgot; owning multiple consoles doesn't necessarily make you a true gamer, Noshino. A man can own a Chevrolet and a Toyota, but still remain a Toyota fanboy (vice versa). There's nothing wrong with slight preferences, but flagrant fanboyism is an act of overt stupidity. Again, true gamers recognize as well as appreciate the strengths and weakness in all consoles without bias. They don't make a big deal of them, they just acknowledge them as they are, and go on. My PS2 can't read half the new games I bought for it without laser tweaking, but that didn't keep me from playing it. Your perpetual Xbox 1.5 comments show your haven't yet grasped the concept of being a true gamer. Does the Xbox 360 have issues? Yeah, and I recognized that fully from day one. Will the PS3 have just as many issues? Yes, and you'd be a blithering idiot of a fanboy if you think the first run of PS3's will be totally flawless. Even the Wii will have its own issues. Do they all have their individual strengths? Yes.

All consoles, within their first iteration, have problems of some sort (apparently, you never took that into consideration); it's either hardware related, or developers pushing out dumbed up versions of current gen games as next-gen titles. Which, I'm gonna have to bust your balls here. Did the Xbox 360's titles, for the most part, suck? The answer is largely yes. However, the blame needs to be put on developers rather than the console. It'd be like me prattling on about how Fox sucks because I didn't like the last AvP movie (they only made one mistake, and that was putting Paul Anderson at the helm). Fox didn't write the script and they didn't direct the movie; no, Paul Anderson can account for that atrocity, and wasted 90 minutes of my life. Better yet, it'd be like me saying the PS2 was really a PS1.5 because its launch titles were no where near as enjoyable as the Dreamcast's launch; it wasn't Sony's fault the developers were lazy. I suppose what I'm getting at is that all consoles are, in some small way, standing on equal footing irregardless of market penetration; they all serve their intended purpose well, are money well spent, and provide us all with near countless hours of entertainment. I have spent the same amount of time on my GC, PS2 (little bit more than the other two due to the shitty DVD rom), and Xbox. Guess what? I haven't regretted a single purchase for any of them. Furthermore, I find it amusing that the following comment is the best you can do: "you can't say anything about the ps3 since it hasn't come out yet, so please keep your mouth shut til then." Wow...I guess that means you need to shut your bloated cake hole as well, because the console you are defending right now is still a hollow plastic case.

Lastly, enough of the Halo comments. I don't like the Final Fantasy series or Metal Gear Solid series in any way, shape, or form, but you don't see me bitching about those being Sony's only trump cards; it' akin to saying, "I don't like Mario or Zelda, so there's nothing on the Wii worth playing." You don't like first person shooters? That's fine. Go buy Jade Empire, Ninja Gaiden, Mechassault, any DOA game, the Metal Gear Solid Series (obviously, excluding the first), and so forth. There are games that make any console purchase justifiable and worthy of attention; it's not my fault if your blinded by your own fanboyism not to see such titles sitting on store shelves. There are PS3 (Warhawk, & another Ace Combat game, god willing), Wii (Metroid Prime 3 & Super Smash Bros), and Xbox 360 (Gears of War, BioShock) titles I'd love to get my hands on, if only for a few moments. Keep drinking you Koolaid, I'll stick with my iced tea, thank ya :) .

Anubis

Comments on Final PlayStation 3 dev kit has arrived

Bah...damn it all to hell.
